Where do you find joy? Where do you find your inner peace?
For me my joy and inner peace is like a telling a good news story; it answers who, what, when, where, and why? The who is family. The what is doing what I want where I want for as long as I want. The when is whenever; planned or unplanned. Where, for me, is a myriad of places; even a place that has snow might make the cut with the right who, yet a beach, especially a Hawaii beach never gets old. Last, but far from least, why; what in it all brings the joy and inner peace must be answered, a conclusion to the day, month, year, and life well lived. Many thanks to Dean Shareski for teaching me years ago about choosing joy and sharing that concept with others. In 2022, I am renewing my commitment to making the joy choice and helping others find their inner peace.

How are you spending the International Day of Happiness? Here at Snider Home Base, we are celebrating another day of rain. While there are certain parts of the the United States and the World who may be cursing the abundance of precipation and the forms it takes on this day, let us remember the days, months, and years of drought. As the saying goes: "Let's rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24. Why not? Join the party #InternationalDayOfHappiness

Did you know that there are ten steps to Global Happiness? If not, there are. Yet, where does happiness start? It starts at home, with you, the person in your seat, wearning your name tag. If you look at the International Day of Happiness website, you will see that you are being asked to join a movement. Step 1: Tell Everyone. Tell them what?

Are you happy? I think I am happy. Yet, by definition, am I happy? By Merriam-Webster, I believe I fit the definition. synonynms: fortuitous, fortunate, heaven-sent, lucky, providential. Dictionary.com has a slightly different list of definitions and words, including JOY.

While I agree that JOY is a choice, I'm not so sure it is the same choice as being happy. I think I argree with Psychologies, JOY is internal while happiness is external.

"Joy and happiness are wonderful feelings to experience, but are very different. Joy is more consistent and is cultivated internally. It comes when you make peace with who you are, why you are and how you are, whereas happiness tends to be externally triggered and is based on other people, things, places, thoughts and events. Lifestyle mentor Rachel Fearnley shows you how to finally find joy."

To me, JOY is a long slow burn of a fire well laid whereas happiness is a beginning blaze that requires constant attention and refueling. Therefore, do not stop with one day of happiness. Otherwise, you shall fall prey to cursing the weather time and again for your next fix of happiness.

In Palm Springs California, there is sand. Nearby there are mineral pools. Yet, for thousands of educators, the Spring Break serenity comes from the annual Spring CUE Conference. Not only are there three days of fabulous sessions, there are many informal learning events as well. For me, it's a sojourn. It's a time to recharge my teacher batteries. It's a time to reconnect with colleagues and friends I may not otherwise see this year. In 25 years, CUE, Inc. has always delivered a quality event.

It is a tradition. When the last day of school arrives and the last teacher deeds are done, my bride, Martha, and I pack our bags and take off for as long as she wants to be gone. Some years, I play the part of her plane ticket. Other years, we do like we did this summer. We take our Nikken Wellness Home on the road.
While some travel by motor home, Martha and I love her 2003 Honda Odyssey that still gets about 400 miles to a tank of gas. Funny how that's about all the time we care to spend on the road on any given travel day. Even though we have a rough idea of where we will be at the end of the day, we typically book our rooms for the night on the fly. Our first choice is always Space-A military lodging. Yet, space available is just that. If we have to go "civilian," we book online with one of those apps.
When we arrive, just like parking an RV, we establish our camp for the night. No matter where we stay, the air filter goes into the room first, gets plugged in, and turned on. Even though we don't have to pitch a tent, we do have to make our bed. We strip the bed to the bottom sheet, lay out our two mattress toppers, put the top sheet over those, and then top it off with our comforter. Every third day, we set-up the PiMag waterfall and refill our PBA free Sports water bottles that we keep in the cooler. The cooler is also a great place for our Super Ciaga, especially if the room doesn't have a fridge. Just like at home, we end our day by setting up our nutritionals for the next day. While the photos upload to Dropbox, we get an awesome night's sleep.
In the morning, we start the day with Kenzen Vital Balance. After the morning rituals, we break "camp" in reverse order so that the air filter is the last thing to leave our hotel room. Then, we are off for more adventures. After 7,792 miles, we were even better than when we left home because we enhanced our health that started at home with a great trip.
With Fall Break right around the corner, we are already packing our bags and excited to take our Nikken home on the road again.
